Allow users to edit comments (time limited) in the support forums

It would allow users to correct typos or formatting issues. The spell checker is neat, but it can’t help with typos in css or html.

I suspect part of the reason these forums don’t allow this is because some users have a tendency to delete their comments in threads once they’ve been resolved.

One “middle ground” solution would be to allow users to edit their comments for a very short time period after they’ve made them. The .org support forums are a good example of how this can work

@garysixtyeight Thanks for your idea and input, but…

When this feature was available in the COM forums, it was abused by users to change what they had said in a fast-paced discussion thread when someone had already posted a reply while they were typing theirs. Personally, I do not want to see a return to that chaos. This is also how commenting works on blogs hosted on COM. There is no time frame to edit a blog comment.

If someone needs to update or correct information in their comment or correct a typo, they can do so by adding an additional comment.

If comment formatting goes pear-shaped, then tag the thread MODLOOK and note the issue for Staff.
