Allow viewers to change colour
-
Hey.
I want to be able to allow my viewers to change colour inside the blog. Meaning that there will be a button where the background colour and front colour will change. Possibly font size as well, but that is possible to do in browser, so never mind that. Colour is the question.
I am thinking mainly on viewers with different eye-sensetivity.
How can I do this??I know that I have seen it before here on wordpress years ago, but I do not know where. And they can not have removed it, because that would just be unhandy, as it is a good feature.
Anyone?
thanks in advance! -AThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry but that’s not possible on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. As you have not provided a link starting with http:// to the blog in question please read WordPress.com vs WordPress.org. This forum is only for those with free hosted WordPress.com blogs. If you are asking about a self hosted WordPress.org install you must post to http://wordpress/org/support/

Maybe you might have seen it on a WordPress.org (self-hosted wordpress) site but quite frankly I’ve never seen a feature like that on wordpress ever. Infact, there are a very few sites that allow users to change the theme or colour (none that do currently come to my mind)
Anyhow, the feature that you want is currently not available in wordpress.com
You have the slight possibility of embeding a similair feature onto a wp.org blog.
tho.I bet a moderator will move this into the Ideas section. :D
Or maybe not.I hope a feature like this IS AVAILABLE…cuz I want it too.

@funreaper
I have been 5 1/2 years and can say with full confidence this is not possible on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It is possible on a self hosted WordPress.org blog provided you choose a theme coded to provide what’s been described. Moreover I believe it’s highly unlikely that here at WordPress.com where custom design upgrades are for sale that such a theme will be introduced wherein this is possible. I’ll flag this thread and it will be moved to the Themes Forum. There Themes Staff will reply to it after January 2nd. -
Okay. Thank you everyone. What I understand is that I can not do it unless upgrade (self-hosted?) and add to the blog to wordpress.ORG… (?)
I know I have seen it here, sometime when I joined 2009, after browsing sites and trying to find out what theme, colour and features I wanted. But then I have not not used it at all, meaning not going into it. But I remember a site, that I found one way or another here, that I could switch what I mentioned above.
If it was free or not, I have not idea, but as I was wondering I asked here… in the Question. If someone wants to move it to where someone can give me and answer that would be cool, cause I do not know how to do that : ) -
wow, my English is not on top, and I do tend to think more then I write. haha. Sorry.
And yes, I am kindof new (again) here, so that I why you might find me a bit uneducated with all the details. But thank you! -
This is not possible on a free hosted WordPress.com blog as we have no themes that provide such features.
It is possible on a self hosted WordPress.org install, provided you can locate a tjeme that provides such features.
The site you saw with such features were not free hosted WordPress.com blogs. They were self hosted WordPress.org installs.
We do not provide support for WordPress.org installs on this forum. That support is provided here http://wordpress.org/support/
Your can hire a web host, set up a self hosted WordPress.com install and export/import your content into it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org -
Hi anatolicepeda,
Just to confirm, none of our themes on WordPress.com have this feature.

Hey.
I now rediscovered where I found it, even tho it changed. It was (and still partly is) in the theme Structure by Organic Themes.
I can still manually in Dashboard change from white bg and dark font to black bg and light font. But I am sure that 3 years ago, in their theme site, here in WordPress.com, they had a button (looking like a page) where I could change it right there. But maybe it was just to show how it could look.
Thank you for all the help again. Will have to learn how to make my own homepage in the future, but will settle right now. : ) -
