  Is there a way to allow any visitor to the blog to make an anonymous post? I was planning to make this blog an open forum of encouragement for a group.

  No. If that’s what you want to do, you may want a Wiki or indeed a forum. WordPress.com doesn’t do that per se. There’s one theme here that kind of works that way, called P2. See if it does what you want.
