  Quite new to all this – I would like people to create their own posts on my blog, not just make comments on existing posts.
  Is this possible?
  I also would like for folks to easily upload pictures and videos onto the blog.

  Could someone please help?

  Any author can add images and videos easily as well:

  It’s important to understand that a blog is not a forum. The only people who will be able to create their own posts on your blogs are those who you specifically add as offcial users of the blog by following the process in the support entry sberkun linked to above. However, the initial step is to determine which roles to assign to which users.   This advise assumes that jjdb5 is a wp.COM blogger…

  Could be just signed up for an API key for wp.ORG. Could be another blog on wp.COM?

  interesting – I would like a forum then, so that approved users can post without having to create a wordpress account.
  Is this a new concept? Should I be copyrighting this idea?

  It’s not a new concept and ideas cannot be copyrighted; only expressions of ideas.

  Search the internet for free forum hosting, or free wiki hosting, or something like that. Since we can’t use either of them here, we don’t know much about them in general.

  The other alternative is to self-host your own blog using the software from wordpress.ORG, and then add a forum to that. You can do that when you are self-hosted, but you cannot do it here.
