  I would like to know how I can allow comments to go straight to my blog instead of me getting a email to approve them them.

  Dashboard – Settings – Discussion – then check whichever settings you prefer.

  By default, there is no Comment Moderation.
  Anyone can comment and the comments will be shown straight away.

  You may have changed something under Settings>Discussion.
