allowing visitors to download .psd files
-
Hi all,
I am wanting to upload photoshop .psd files to my blog and allow others to download the file. I have seen this done on other wp blogs. When I try to upload .psd files, it is not an option.I am using wordpress.com is this the issue?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Does not look like they are supported: http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/
But since PhotoShop is a standard application. Worth asking staff if psd could be added: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

I read that it is not supported, but I am finding wp blogs that have that ability. Is that a difference between having a blog through wordpress.org and wordpress.com?
Thanks for any help.

Could be, but you can use the box.net widget for this purpose on WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/boxnet-widget/ I use it for PhotoImpact UFO files.
You will most likely need to keep the files size within a certain limit for the free box.net account.

There is a big difference between .ORG and .COM sites. I am in the process of migrating a site from .ORG to .COM and I will need to find a way to workaround a couple of limitations, but I don’t think I will loose any functionality in the transfer.
Usually there is a workaround for things on .COM as @justjennifer has pointed out. But if enough users ask for a feature it might be added, I have seen a few cases of very quick changes in the past. So go ahead and ask for the psd file support.
