Already on 2.7.1 but this morning it is asking me to upgrade

    Hello forum:

    I upgraded to version 2.7.1 about three weeks ago and all has been running fine on my site, however this morning as I logged into my blog’s Admin screen I saw the message at the top and bottom of the screen indicating that version 2.7.1 has been released and that I can upgrade to it. I visit my site every day so this is not an oversight. Another strange thing, I do not know if it is related, is that I received a comment from someone in Russia requesting me to email him back so he that can link me – I deleted his post. Is it possible my site has been hacked? Has anyone else encountered this issue where you are already on a version, for a few weeks, and then suddenly the same version is available for upgrade?

    The blog you specified at http://www.elquintosuyo.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.

    This support forum is for WordPress.com hosted blogs only. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums, not here.

    If you don’t understand the difference, you may find this information helpful.

    While it’s true you’re in the wrong place and need to be at wordpress.org I did want to say I got that type of spam from Russia on my self-hosted blog this morning. I marked it as spam so Akismet can learn. Simply deleting it doesn’t teach Akismet (assuming that’s what you’re running) that it’s a spammer.

    I’m not getting another upgrade notice, so I doubt the two are connected.
