Already own domain

    Hi there,
    I already own my domain,
    I simply want to use that and build a site on wordpress, however when I select that I own my domain, it still asks me to pay?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there,

    It is possible to have a free site on WordPress.com, but our free sites do not have a custom URL option. You will need to limit yourself to the ‘wordpress.com’ address we provide.

    If you wish to use a custom address on your site, that is possible, but it will require upgrading to one of our plans mentioned here, all of which include the custom domain address option: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    If cost is an issue at this time I recommend the Personal Plan which is our lowest cost plan and in addition to giving your site a custom address will also give you:

    – access to private email support
    – extra media storage for your images and documents
    – turn off the ads we show on free sites (to help cover our operating costs)
