  I was trying to use wordpress through domain.com and already paid the $45 dollars for WordPress, which they sold through their site.

  The company domain.com is separate from us here at WordPress.com. It sounds like you were planning to use the free WordPress software which comes from WordPress.org instead, with your domain.com site?
