Alternate methode to hreflang-Tags?
-
Hi, I am the owner of the domain “timelock.in” and have mapped this adress to my blog “timelockin.wordpress.com”. But although I use the domain ending “in”, my blog posts have nothing special to do with “India” – I am from Germany and I post my stuff for Germany , Europe and US. To get a better Google ranking I have to tell this to Google. How can I do this with my WordPress blog?
Best

Hi Timo,
From what you’ve said, this multilingual site option may do what you are looking for:
This would involve creating separate sites for each language and cross-link each site in the menu. The other sites could use a domain with the relevant language extension (.in, .de etc) or a subdomain of timelock.in.
I think your content plays a bigger role in search engine ranking overall, so I’m not sure how much of a benefit location specific domains would have.

Hi gemmacevans, Thanks for your feedback. I think that “.de” will rank best, “.com” medium and “.in” is on the last place if the ip adresse from the searching computer comes from Germany and the hreflang-Tags for the “.in” adress is not set from India to Germany. It is a little bit difficult cause there exists not a global ranking around the world. If you are interessting about the ranking of your important domain try this website where you can check the google ranking in different countries.
https://seorch.de/html/google-rank-checker.htmlOne theoretical solution will be to change my wordpress plan from personal to business cause then it is possible to work with plugins like this one https://wordpress.com/plugins/timelock.in?s=hreflang-Tags
But practical this would cost me five times more per month and this is to expensive for me.Best
Timo
