Alternate URL

  • Unknown's avatar

We previously had access to a WordPress site.

But we moved the domain name and need the alternate url to login to the old WordPress website

    Thanks

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • Hi! Could you send the current link? We can use that to try to spot the old one. For now, I don’t see any sites associated with this account.

Just to clarify too, if you’re managing your own copy of WordPress with a different host, you’ll want to use the correct forums:
    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Or you’d be welcome to move your site to our services so we can take care of hosting, security, and support for you:

The site goldeyes.com was originally built on WordPress about 10 years ago.
When we updated it around October 1, 2022, it is no longer on WordPress.

    Current link is: https://www.goldeyes.com

I’m hoping you can find for us a URL link that would give us access to a copy of the site as of September 30, 2022.

We had been using this link to sign in when we were on WordPress:
    http://goldeyes.com/secure-login
Unfortunately, we don’t have the original builder’s WordPress sign in

    Hope this helps

Thanks for that. To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

You would need to reach out to the hosting provider that was hosting your WordPress installation. If you didn’t cancel that hosting, they should still have your WordPress install on their servers and can provide you a temporary URL to log into the site since you’re using the domain on another site now.

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks

Yes, please provide us with that alternate URL
    Thanks again

  • Hi there,

You would receive that from your site host. I looked up your site and it appears to be hosted with Amazon. So, I’d reach out to them for assistance:

    https://aws.amazon.com/contact-us/?nc2=h_header

  • Your host will need to provide you with a temporary url, as we don’t have access unless your site is hosted here.

Can you get in touch with them directly?

    Thanks
AWS may not be able to help, though

    What we’re looking for is…
When we created our WordPress website, we could link a domain name (which we used to have).
There should have been a URL like WordPress.goldeyes.login.com (or something similar) as an alternative url. It is likely very different from that since we can’t access it.
When we were on WP, we were using the domain login goldeyes.com/wp-login.

Apologies if we haven’t been able to communicate this more clearly. This is a very new process for us

    Thanks

  • We don’t have any access to the site for providing much help because the site is not using our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com.

The site is set up on a stand alone WordPress installation, and hosted by AWS instead. This is an entirely different process. AWS is where you should ask for help, the other option is this community forum: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

It does sound like our managed environment is a better fit for y’all. With our hosting you only need to focus on content. All of the back end details like security, updates, spam protection, seo, and so forth are handled by our team of experts.

The different hosting options are visible on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ We can answer any questions you have about those.

They can be paid for by the year, or by the month. The yearly option has a good savings and is refundable for 30 days. The plans can be upgraded/downgraded at any point to meet the project needs and budget.
