alternating image on hover
-
When I was trying to design a website in Squarespace one of the features they had was that you could roll your mouse over text and it would make an alternate image appear and then switch depending upon where on the screen the mouse hovered. Is there a way to add a feature like that to a website on WordPress.com without upgrading to a business account? Is there a layout or template that offers that kind of feature? thank you!

Hi there,
There is no theme in WordPress.com with that feature. You can add a lightbox effect using CSS, which would require at least the Premium Plan. This requires more advanced CSS, though. You can see a tutorial another user wrote for this some time ago here:
That would allow you to show the same or a different image at bigger size, but you won’t be able to add links or buttons in as well, and it won’t show different images depending on where on the image you’re hovering. You might be able to figure something out with the map-attribute in HTML, but it would be quite complex to set it up and not something we’ll be able to help you with.
Aside from that you’d need a plugin or custom theme to do this, and those are only possible to use if you have the Business Plan.
