Alternative text for images not working

The alternative texts for images are not working. The post under consideration is: https://prasadradhika.wordpress.com/2015/05/29/origami-polyhedra/
I want the alternative text to show up when the mouse cursor hovers over the image. This seems to be working in this post: https://prasadradhika.wordpress.com/2016/07/02/my-visit-to-ranganatitthu-bird-sanctuary/
Please help.

Hi there,
I am flagging you for staff support. Please have patience while someone takes a look into it and get back to you.
Thanks

Hi there,
Are you referring to the captions that pop up when you hover over an image? If so, the images on the first link do not have captions while many (but not all) images on the second link you provided do. Once you add captions, you should be able to see them work.
Thanks,

If your goal is to get the alternative text (captions) to show up when the mouse cursor hovers over each image, I have a solution you can try.
We’re going to create a gallery using what is called the “Classic Block” to achieve exactly what you want. This is the only way to create this type of gallery you want.
First, review this 1-minute tutorial video I have created please: https://d.pr/v/LCzVoy
Pay close attention to that video. Pause the video each step of the way to make sure you can follow along at a pace that’s comfortable for you.
I’ve outlined the key steps in that video below.
1. Add a Classic block to your post.
2. In the Classic block, enter the following gallery “shortcode”
[gallery type="tiled"](this creates an empty gallery)
3. Edit the empty gallery; add images either from your computer or from your Media Library.
4. Add the captions you wish to appear on the photos in the gallery.
5. Add the gallery to your post.
The end result should be the Classic Tiled Mosaic Gallery with the alternative text (captions) to show up when the mouse cursor hovers over each image.
Again, take your time to create this gallery. It may seem like a lot of steps initially, but once you get some practice, it can become much easier to create these types of galleries on your site. :)

Thanks a lot, deancroyal. The method outlined by you indeed works. However, I have a few queries. Is it possible to convert the existing galleries into classic galleries or is it necessary to create a new gallery by adding all the images again?

Changing gallery types would be possible within the new Block Editor:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/#changing-a-block-type
In the Classic one, you would need to do this manually by changing the shortcode.
