Alternatives, please?
-
Since I will be travelling a lot during the year, I thought it would be fun to add some kind of map to my blog, showing places I’ve visited, my whereabouts and so on.
To do this, I found two options meeting my expectations, wayfaring.com and maps.google.com. The problem is, both of these sites use <iframe> to emb the map into the blog. And wordpress.com doesn’t support iframe’s.So, I would be happy if any of you know any good alternatives to these pages. I tried the map widget already, but 1) I want my map to be shown on a page, not in the sidebar 2) I found the map widget a lot more complicated than the pages I have already mentioned.
Can any of you guys help me out?
Thanks -
I’m afraid I don’t know of any offhand; another volunteer might but most maps require the use of Javascript or an embed which isn’t allowed on our blogs. A few people have requested that GoogleMaps be implemented at some stage; if you send an email to staff requesting it, it might help as they keep track of every request.

Then you could include the screenshot on your blog and link to the map; it won’t update but whenever someone clicks on it they’ll go over to your map and can follow your travels. You could also take a new screenshot and update it manually when you have a few spare moments. Hope that helps. :)

The Mapkit widget might be the answer. Check the FAQ but this post gives a quick overview:
