Altofocus Oddities
-
Howdy! I used the Live Chat feature earlier to ask this first question, but I’m still not entirely convinced this isn’t a bug.
When embedding a Gallery slideshow as a Post header carousel, any other Gallery style embedded in the body of the post displays in the same way as a header carousel. Other Gallery styles are not respected.
Here is a draft post showing this oddity (Staff only) https://shutterclutter.wordpress.com/?p=2224&preview=true and a temporary screenshot.
Shouldn’t it be possible to embed more than one Gallery style in a post/page or is Altofocus an exception?
The other oddity is the way my ShutterClutter site thumbnail displays on my Gravatar Profile. Only the site title and a single post featured image thumbnail is seen.
Shouldn’t the entire front page of the site be displayed as it is on my other connected sites?
Thanks for any assistance or advice given.

Thanks, I’m speaking to the Gravatar team about the thumbnail and will let you know when I have some news.

Hello again @gemmacevans, although it is probably too early, any news?
Also, I’d appreciate a more in-depth answer regarding the Gallery issue because if other Gallery types in the body of a post are not respected it will likely cause me to change my theme. Thanks again.

I was just about to reply when I saw your reply come through :)
I’ve been doing some testing on the AltoFocus gallery issue you mentioned but I haven’t been able to replicate what I am seeing on your draft post. Would you mind sharing your steps so I can follow them on my test site?
-
Of course. Add the Gallery slideshow to the top of the post to create the special Altofocus header, add a second Gallery to the post using any other Gallery style. If you look at the Text tab in the draft post you’ll see
[gallery type="slideshow" ids="1959,1958"] Second Gallery (inserted as a tiled mosaic) [gallery ids="1960,1961,1962,1963,1964,1965,1966" type="rectangular"] -
Not being able to replicate this was due to an issue on my end. Once the featured gallery was set up correctly, I was able to add a tiled mosaic gallery which looked as expected in the post editor. But when I previewed or published the post, it was styled the same was as the featured gallery.
I’m going to create a bug report because I can insert a tiled mosaic gallery and slideshow into the post content when no featured gallery is present. But the two styles are not honoured when the featured gallery is added.
Thanks for finding this bug and for your patience while I did some testing!

Hi again, just wondering if there’s any progress, particularly on the gravatar display issue? Thanks. :)
-
Howdy –
I’m following up for gemmacevans here.
The team has had a look at the GitHub report that Gemma filed, roughly 4 days ago. I don’t have any other news to share at this time. I’ll subscribe to the issue though so I can send an update here once we hear back.

Hi @lizkarkoski- thanks for the info.
There were two issues:
1. Shutterclutter’s thumbnail as it displays on my Gravatar profile;
2. The problem @gemmacevans reported on github re the Gallery problem. Thanks for helping. :)
-
Yeesh. My bad.
I’m going to follow up on that now and see if there’s been any progress made. Thanks for pointing it out :)
-
Thanks @liskarkoski – I just noticed the odd thumbnail appears as my pingback on The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenges too. :(

Hi justjennifer,
I just wanted to let you know that the gallery issue has been fixed. From now on only the first slideshow gallery will be featured above post title. Any subsequent galleries in the post content will not be affected.
Thanks for your patience on this!
-
And it looks as though as of today the thumbnail issue on Gravatar and in DailyPost pingbacks is also resolved.
Thanks so much for the assistance, folks! :)
