Always show full post in blog (details/summary tag)

I’m looking to always show the full post, as written, in my blog, even in search results or when filtering by category. The goal of the blog is to use details/summary tags so that content can be expanded and collapsed. This is a Q&A blog where the question should be showing and the answer won’t show unless expanded. I have this part working fine, but when using the search results or category view these tags appear to be stripped out so the expand/collapse stops working. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    Hi there,

Please post a link starting with http:// to your site so we can provide an accurate answer.

Unfortunately the site is private right now so I can’t share it.

There is very little in the site except for a posts page, which has a categories and search widget. When viewing the posts page, the

Question goes here... <details> <summary>Show/Hide</summary>Answer goes here...
    </details>

works fine. When you search or select a category, you only see the text
“Question goes here… Show/Hide Answer: Answer goes here… ” without the ability to show/hide. So basically this is removed.

The fact that the site is private is not relevant. We Volunteers cannot view private sites; only Staff can view them. However, without you providing the URL we cannot confirm hosting so this thread is, in essence, dead in the water until you post the URL.

This is wordpress.COM support. We cannot answer any questions posted here accurately until we have the relevant URL and have confirmed hosting.

Note that about 30% of those who post here daily are posting to wrong support forum and the answers to wordpress.COM and WordPress.ORG support questions are not the same.

We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. We cannot provide support for sites that are not on our servers. Our support docs do not apply to
    (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
    (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM. That support is found at http://wordpress.ORG/support/
    (3) sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page. That support is found at http://jetpack.com/support/

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, support docs and support forums, run different theme versions of themes with the same names, and many people get confused about the two. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ as you could be posting to the wrong support forum.

The wordpress.ORG support forums are at http://wordpress.org/support. The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/

You can confirm where your site is hosted by typing the URL in here http://www.whoishostingthis.com/

Unfortunately I can’t share the url as my company wishes to keep it hidden as we move forward with the website – it is, however, a wordpress.com site. I wasn’t aware that giving the url is necessary for support as I have received it in the past. I apologize and won’t use the forums in the future.
