Am I Able To Hide The Sharing Icons On My Blog Page?

    I’m cool with having them appear within blog posts but it looks a little awkward to see the sharing icons right at the beginning of the blog.
    Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    It looks like your theme allows you to include some content at the top of your updates page. From the Entrepreneur demo site:

    With Entrepreneur, which supports all post formats, you’re able to add in a page title, featured image, and page content into the top of your Updates page.

    Are the social links something you’ve added via a shortcode or do they appear there automatically? You can hide them with the following CSS should you need to:

    body.blog #jp-post-flair {
    	display: none;
    }

    However, as you have a premium theme, it might also be worth reporting this to the theme author in the Entrepreneur theme forum. There might be a better way to get around the issue that I can’t check because I can’t demo the theme fully.

    One other thing to note is that you currently only have HTML heading tags in the content section. If you want to make the code semantic and optimise it for search engines you should only use those for actual headings. The tag lists would be better of as an unordered list (ul/li) and if you want to style the last link then you should give it a CSS class in the HTML editor so you can target it with CSS.

    Quick question, when you say this :One other thing to note is that you currently only have HTML heading tags in the content section. If you want to make the code semantic and optimise it for search engines you should only use those for actual headings.

    are you referring to this part on the blog?

    Can you help me out with what this part means? Sorry i’m new to this but trying to learn as much as I an as fast as I can :

    ” The tag lists would be better of as an unordered list (ul/li)”

    and if you want to style the last link then you should give it a CSS class in the HTML editor so you can target it with CSS.

    does this refer to the #spanishtutor on the lower left?

    FYI the social links appeared automatically on my side

    Quick question, when you say this :One other thing to note is that you currently only have HTML heading tags in the content section.

    @spanishtutortampa, I’m not sure if @hallluke was talking about a specific post/page on your site when he said the above, but in general, search engines think h1-h6 are used for heading, not for general page/post content (which they typically expect to find in paragraph tags), and if everything on a page is h1-h6 level (such as on your main page), then they can get confused as to what is a heading and what is actual page/post content. This can result result in the search engines not ranking your site as highly in their search results.

    h1 and h2 are given the most weight by search engines, and they typically think those will be site title and page/post titles. In the content area, headings are typically h3 and h4, and then the content related to those headings would be standard paragraphs, styled as needed.

    Adjustments can be done with CSS to set fonts and sizes for paragraph content, and we can even make those settings specific to certain pages with some of the unique CSS selectors that are available to us, so we can still emphasize things, like on your main page.

    As far as the ordered/unordered list recommendation (ul/li), I’m not sure what @hallluke was looking at when he mentioned that.

    ahh understood. i can how hashtagging with H123 headers can confuse search origins. almost like overkill. got it that part. thank you

    Hi again, just chiming in to clarify I meant perhaps include the “Spanish Words/Verbs/Grammar” tag links at the top of your blog page as an HTML list. You can use CSS to get ride of the bullets but it makes more sense for it to be a list than for it to be 3 paragraphs, or one paragraph with line breaks.

    Other than that I can’t put it better than thesacredpath already did!

    ahh understood, thank you guys! This is a great learning experience. They don’t teach this stuff in school
