Am I able to retrieve the wordpress files as well as the wordpress database?
-
I’m going round and round with the company currently hosting speacktacular.com. I was planning on pointing the DNS for this domain to wordpress, as I have done in the past. I bought the DNS activation at the WordPress store, but then the site host says we could lose the email functionality for @speacktaular.com, so I did not complete the process. Instead the host is asking if I am able to retrieve the wordpress files as well as the wordpress database for (email visible only to moderators and staff), so they can FULLY transfer the site to their servers. Is this possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Unfortunately, that would not be possible with WordPress.com. This is separate from the self-hosted WordPress install. To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

However, you can still host your domain with us and keep your email by adding custom records. There will be a hiccup in receiving email as it does take at most a couple days to fully propagate. Please view the guide below:

Just ask your email host for the custom records and you can add them after you point your domain to us.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!
