    Hi everyone.

I write my daily SmokeyC4 blog here at WordPress & I do my SmokeyC4 new & Views at liveleak.com.

Am I allowed to put a video blog from liveleak on my blog here once or twice a month?

If so how do I go about doing that,I noticed that youtube can do it so I thought id ask.

    Thank You

If you do a search of the FAQ for “Video” you’ll find that Liveleak isn’t a supported format. If you use one of the five or so supported formats, no problem. You can also put it in your Vodpod widget, where it will work just fine.

sorry smokeyc4, you are allowed to put a video blog from from LiveLeak (nor from any service other than listed on FAQ) on your blog here untill they have a deal with the Automattic.

Options, you need a time-out. That information is wrong, as you can see from the last sentence of my reply.

there ain’t such thing as “supported formats”, it’s all .FLV (flash video) which can be embedded just about anywhere (geocities anyone?) but .com

and your last sentence, rain, just proves it. see, vodpod, which allows to collect (nice verb) clips from 1K+ sites is brought to .com by the Remixation, Inc., who, just by the pure incident, ‘are proud to have taken an investment’ from the same VC as the automattic. see their About page.

apparently, LiveLeak has been funded by other VC group and that’s all about it — nothing is new under the moon.

It doesn’t matter: the question was, can the OP put his LiveLeak videos on his blog here? The answer is: Yes, if he uses that widget.

the OP has mentioned youtube, most people by ‘am I allowed to put video from X to my blog’ mean to put (i.e. embed it) into posts rather than into sidebar widgets.

Fauna, Kubrick (and its mishpocha) are sidebarless. i.e. when someone lands to a post of such blog from the SE he can’t see nither sidebar, nor all the more the video which is supposed to be somehow related with the post (date, title, cats and all that meta), btw.

let alone they have to create another account at VP.

I know all that. It’s not tremendously helpful to go over it here.

The OP can put his videos on his blog using the Vodpod widget. He can, of course, always translate them to a supported format like YouTube as well and put them in blog posts if he wants.

    > translate them to a supported format like YouTube

rain, they don’t need to be translated/converted/etc for you to see them. they *are* already in the *supported by your browser* format — flash video. (otherwise, how would you think VP could hotlink them all and display to you?)

the only difference is the hotlinked video *origin*, i.e. where visitor will be sent to if he double-clicks on the player, brand logo etc.

well, I dunno, there *are* chances they may be waiting for the apropriate ‘fauxML’ (#1 at goog) plugins from video web-services. but then all video folks should bug their favorite video sites so that they provide .com with such a plugin (a no brainer, as typically they all have a more or less the same markup).

or, if nothing else, indeed, as you have suggested, to *reupload* (not translate, thou) onto ‘supported’ service.
