Am I banned from Category listings?
-
I’ve noticed that my blog (which documents a family’s recovery after a hurricane by building their own home out of Shipping containers) no longer appears in the category listings on WordPress.
For 18 months, up until about three weeks ago, all was good. And now, my posts don’t appear. This happened right about the time that my blog broke 100k views using the WordPress counter widget.
And now, my posts have fallen into the darkness… if they don’t appear, no one can find them, right?
How to I find out what’s going on?

You’re still visible on search engines and everywhere else online, you’re just not on the global tag pages.
There’s a way to fix this.
On your most recent post, for instance, you have a combination of 17 tags and categories. Staff have repeatedly said that this is too many and will subject your blog to exclusion from the global pages. Reduce the number of tags on existing posts to 12 or so for safety. Definitely never more than 15. And in future don’t use so many tags and categories.

Hmmmm. Okay, I thought (I must have read it incorrectly… in that each area of tagging i.e. tags AND categories, was limited to 12 and I incorrectly assumed it meant EACH.)
As my posts apply to several areas of both construction, architecture, and the environment, I was just trying to insure they reached the right audience.
I’ll try to exercise more restraint and see what happens.
If I go back and re-edit my (too) heavily tagged posts, will they re-index (thus appearing), or has that ship sailed?
Thanks for the help. I thought that maybe the “Housing Gnomes” had gobbled up my blog…

No, it’s a total of both.
I believe but am not 1000% sure that old posts will be re-indexed but of course they’ll be pages and pages back on the tag pages, they don’t pop up at the top.

You have 11 blogs – it helps a great deal if actual blogs can be named.
None are excluded in any way.

Hi Mike:
Yeah, I started trying to write prolifically as “an income and even (gasp!) entertainment stream.” You can imagine how THAT turned out. I suspect that I’ll be suspending a few of them here shortly. ;)
I was speaking of renaissanceronin.wordpress.com, the blog that is tied to my member ID up there. It’s the heart and soul of my “blogdom.” Sorry I didn’t make it clearer.
It appears that my problem is: “I didn’t think.” Completely my fault., My apologies.
