Am I misunderstanding my archive widget?

I added the archive widget and have selected the drop down for the months. The problem I’m having is that if you, for instance, select January, the post from January 31st comes up, but you then have to click the “older post” button to go one day back at a time. Since our blog really is a daily yearlong journey, new followers have to click through all the way to the beginning. Surely I’m missing something. Please help! Thank you so much!!!

  • Right now your blog is set to show 1 post on the archives.

You can go to your Settings => Reading and change the “Blog pages show at most” drop-down to a different number.

This will increase the number of posts on the archive page before your users have to click to see the previous posts.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I see what you’re saying. If I change it to 31 to cover an entire month so it’s easy for readers to catch up, how does that affect our stats? Is it considered one page view if they scroll all the way to the bottom and read all 31 posts? If so, that’s not really a fix. What I was envisioning, I guess, is that the blog post titles would appear in a drop down that a reader could then select page by page. Is that possible?

  • No, unfortunately that is not possible.

The only way to show them all on the page is to increase the posts per page as mentioned, which would slightly affect your page views.
