Am I spammy?
-
I see someone went to the “Report Spam Page” and reported my blog as spam. Am I being spammy? I do not want to be considered
spammy at all! I fairly new to blogging and I don’t want to cause any problems for myself or anyone else!
If you could check out my blog and my interaction with the WordPress.com forum, and let me know what you think, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,

Having a look at your site, I would say it’s borderline…
If you read http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/ you will see that affiliate marketing blogs are not allowed on wordpress.com
You do have an awful lot of affiliate links on your site (e.g. your blogroll of best affiliate products) and some people may think that the sole purpose of your blog is to drive traffic and make money through your own affiliate links, and hence report your site as spam.
I would be in doubt. You do have interesting posts besides the links and you do interact with the forum, so it would be a tough call.
Let me put it this way: If your blogroll and post of best of affiliate products did not contain your own affiliate links, that would be ok. As it is now, it IS bordering on spammy.

Thanks wpvstp,
To be truthful, one of the reasons I’m blogging is to generate affiliate income. So I guess I need to go to WordPress.org and and start a hosted blog. I apologize for my ignorance, and hope the forum at WordPress.org is as good as this one.
Thanks again,

@dairymilk
Thanks for supporting jerryl here, but as teck points out, that’s up to WordPress’ staff, not us, to decide. -
like i herd a club penguin blog owner’s blog got spammed loads of times he has 2 penguins 1) wartex he got banned forever 2) fever still active. His blog got shut down by the site he used to create his site and they thought fever/wartex had used one of those links and it wasn’t it was the spammer and if i were u i would get ur site protected asap!

@dairymilk789
If your refering to CP members getting there blogs spammed here on wordpress.com
yes spam is a part of blogging and all you have to do is send those to your spam
queue… On the other hand I have seen it many times were CP members were adding
other CP members as admins and then shouting in the forums I’ve been spammed or
hacked ect. So alot of the times they bring it on there selfs then confuse the
issue in the forums… -
dairymilk789 – your writing is too much stream-of-conciousness. I have no idea what you are talking about, and that makes me think it doesn’t matter. Try to be clear, succinct and use punctuation.

I realize now that I’m pushing the limits somewhat and I already have a hosting account.I’ll be moving the Blog over ASAP. Exporting a whole blog looks the be a simple procedure, correct? A hosted blog works about the same as a WordPress.com blog? And when you have a hosted blog you are in complete control of it’s content?(following the guidelines of your hosting company of course)
One other question,if I may, could I have a WordPress.com blog linking quite often to my hosted blog(with my products I’m selling)?
I will only be offering the highest quality products that have a proven track record instead of everything that comes out like about 70% of the IM email lists I’m on.
Again I want to be within all rules and guidelines,I’m not out to take advantage of anybody.
Thanks again,

if you use your wp.com blog to redirect to your hosting blog for products you’ll be
breaking the TOS here

Here’s a rule of thumb:
WordPress.com is for blogs written by bloggers. If your blog is an actual blog, we’ll try to resolve any ToS issues that do arise so that you can stay. If it’s merely a vehicle for sending traffic somewhere else, it will sooner or later be suspended – we’re not in the business of spending big money to provide free or cheap tools for promoting third party web sites.
-
Jerryl, when I first saw your blog I thought about reporting it but you do actually blog in meaningful ways about topics of real interest, so I held off. I think you will be okay in the long run and I’d hate to see you lose access to Wp.com because of the confusion.

Thanks raincoaster,
I truely do want to provide real value to my readers. As I say in the “About You” page my readers are very, very important to me.
I’ve been online(learning how to build website, ect.)for close to a year now, with the intent(at first anyway)of making some extra income.
My goals have changed, now I really don’t expect to make much money any time soon(I haven’t been disappinted)I am concentrating on providing good, useful, free,(I love free stuff)IM info to my readers.
My affiliate links are only for rock solid companies that have been providing good value for some time.
Most of my posts contain no affiliate links at all only free services for all those “newbie” IMs out there.
My blog will never be just a vehicle to send traffic somewhere else, it will be what it is right now, telling the truth about online moneymaking oppertunities(is SP check possible here?), and showing how to make a substainable income online in a honest way(if you want to get rich over nite…well try the Lotto).
Well bottom line,I guess,is my blogs is still there even after all the scruinty, so I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing.
I really like it here at WordPress.com and hope to stay,
To our blogging success,

Your best bet is to contact staff directly from your dashboard and ask for their advice. It won’t be difficult for you to export the blog to an independent one if that’s what you and they decide is best.
