Am I using the right theme…

    Hi all,

Apologies but I need a bit of help / advice. I’ve been writing blogs for a couple of weeks and although overall I’m pleased, my page kind of looks like it was setup by a 9 year old!

The main page isn’t too bad, with blog previews and a twitter feed widget. The ‘home’ page just has the twitter feed? And the blog page shows nothing? Should I just delete this menus? Kind of thought the blog page would list the blogs?

Anyway, I’ve been going round in circles so thought I would ask some experts?

    Thanks,

    Danny.

  • Nothing to apologize for! :)

There are a couple of factors to what you’re seeing. The first is your Static Front Page selection.

Right now, you site is set to the default setting, which means the home page of the site lists out all of your blog posts.

The alternative to this, is to use a Static Front Page – you write up a page to say whatever you’d like to have on your front page. Then you select that as your front page, using the steps on the link I’ve included above. You can also use those settings to select “Blog” as the page where your blog posts show up!

So – if you want something different on the front page, and the blog posts on the second page, follow those steps.

Alternatively, if you want your blog posts on the home page, then you’ll want to update your menu setup.

On My Site > Menus, delete the Blog item from the menu.

Then, edit the Home item to point to the Home (Site) page. That way it will pull up the actual home page of your site – as opposed to the page you’ve made and named ‘Home’.
