am I wordpress.com or wordpress.org site

  I don’t know if my site is a WordPress.com site or a .org site. I started my blog on wordpress.com but then I purchased the domain name–does that mean that it became a .org site? I don’t think so, but I’m confused. Thanks!

  If your blog is self-hosted, it’s a wordpress.org site.

  Your blog is a .com. You own the domain name, but wordpress.com still hosts it. You can verify this by looking at the very bottom of your blog where it says, “Blog at WordPress.com. ”

  Buying a domain name gets you: a domain name. It doesn’t change where you’re hosted.
