Am not receiving all LIKES that are sent me

A WP blogger told me WPress has been having some problems with likes getting through. She said:

“Problem is with some versions of internet explorer and opera. They are working on it. They said to use google chrome. “

Another WP blogger’s like did not come through – even the second time after he sent me the LIKE on Chrome and got confirmation on his end: “You and 14 other bloggers liked this…” When he logged into WP, the like came through. After some careful testing, he believes that when a reader with a WP account gets that account cached out on his computer/machine settings, even if he sees the confirmation of the like having gone through, it won’t reach me. Is this true and how long have you been having issues with likes not reaching bloggers? Is there a way to ensure that all likes confirmed on the sender’s end reach their destination? Thanks.

    Hello there,
I am a very practical minded blogger. Though likes may make us feel warm and fuzzy inside they are not page view stats and they are not meaningful comments that add to the discussion on blog posts. Given how many commercial folks with gravatar accounts click like buttons only to get our blog readers to click into their sites, these presumed appreciation for our content click that can be considered to be meaningless.

That said, whether or not the likes will update is unknown to me so I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    Hi TT,

As a newbie, I’m open to all angles. I don’t really understand all the ins and-outs, and the desire to understand the mechanisms is largely behind my inquiries. Incidentally, I don’t put up likes easily. I take the time to post literally thoughtful (as in full of thought) comments, where possible.

Something just doesn’t seem right, though, for bloggers not to receive intended likes that are confirmed on the part of the sender. Seems an issue a blog platform does have to address. Thanks.

Yesterday there was a period of time where those using Opera and IE were unable to click “like” buttons. Support Staff advised the developers of the issue and posted a sticky post at the head of the forum telling the bloggers using those browsers to use Firefox or Chrome. Thereafter the issue was fixed by the developers. Today any of your readers who failed to switch browsers yesterday can click like buttons on your posts that they did not click yesterday.
