Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for amandahewson.net. amandahewson.net is set as the primary domain for amandahewsondotnet.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.
It can take up to 72 hours for domain name changes to propagate throughout the internet. We have no control over when search site chooses to flush their DNS caches. You can view the process unfolding here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ If you’re still not seeing your site loading at amandahewson.net, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, and try again. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

This is absolutely ridiculous and by far the longest and unnecessary amount of time to have to allow for propagation. If I use GoDaddy as my registrar and I switch my DNS to CloudFlare ~ who have THE fastest DNS network on the planet ~ my DNS is propagated almost immediately sometimes, and within an hour or so, on most other occasions.
WordPress.com you need to get yourself into the 21st century.

@mykier
The length of time it takes for any individual ISP the world over to flush their DNS caches is not under the control of WordPress.com or Godaddy. In fact, your own ISP is frequently the very last one to flush their DNS cache.So do you actually need and want help for mapping a wordpress.com blog to http://www.mykier.com to help or are you just venting? AsI can’t really tell in case it’s the former I’ll provide the how to steps.
Although mykier.com has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.
Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
