Amazon Affiliate

I have looked at several tutorials, FAQs, and already answered questions to the same issue but I still cant figure out how to get it to work. I am trying to add an Amazon link to some of my content so that readers to my blog can read about the gear I am using and then click on the embedded link that will take them to Amazon to learn and/or purchase the equipment. I add the link but for some reason it is not saving.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The Amazon widget does not work here, so you need to get the plain affiliate link instead. You can add that link to any text or image on your site. But it must be the plain link, starting with http://…
You should be able to get that link from the Affiliates toolbar if you’re viewing a product on Amazon.

I have been trying to use just the plain link from Amazon but after I highlight the text within the blog that I want it to be associated with and then click save, it doesn’t do anything to it. It doesn’t create the link.

You need to highlight the text and then either paste the link, or click the link icon in the toolbar and paste the link there. But you need to paste in the link.
