Amazon Affiliate – .com vs .org
-
Hi. I want to add an Amazon Affiliate menu on my sidebar, but I see that any kind of advertising at all is not allowed? I’m not interested in any other types of advertising, just the Amazon sidebar. So I am wondering, besides paying the $$$ for the VIP status, is there any other way around this besides starting from scratch? Can I pay for an upgrade to .org – does that transfer my blog as is and allow me to use the Amazon Affilliate? I am not webpage-savvy at all; that’s why I like .com, to get the themes and basically everything done for me with all the templates & such.
TIA.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Amazon affiliate links are ok in moderation as long as they are only used in posts where you personally wrote the content (for example a book or DVD review).
See https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/affiliate-link?replies=89 for more discussion on Amazon affiliate links.

WordPress.com is utterly unsuitable for this. You will need to find external hosting, install WordPress.org software, and export your blog from here.
There IS a paid transfer to .org, but you need to find the host first. Most hosts allow you to use Amazon or whatever else affiliate stuff you want, but not all of them, so ask them.

I agree with raincaoster and I suggest external hosting, installing WordPress.org software, and exporting your blog from here, than importing it into your WordPress.org install. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
