Amazon affiliate links

    Hello,
I’ve been struggling to insert my Amazon affiliate links within the text of my blog. When I paste it within the text, it is the lengthy blurb not my customized product link. I’ve gone through tutorials without any success. Can you please advise? Is this option not available with the free WordPress account? Thank you!

  • Hi there,

Affiliate links are allowed on WordPress.com as long as the primary purpose of your blog is to create original content. We do not allow sites that exist primarily to drive traffic to affiliate links. Affiliate links should be related to your site’s content in some way.

Here are the step by step instructions on how to add them to your WordPress.com site:

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Hello,
Sometimes, I link to product pages rather than the actual product. This should allow my readers to choose things like sizes. For example, instead of only linking to Fruit Bliss Sundried Tomatoes, 5oz package, I’m linking to the section Pantry Staples. Will I still get credit for the purchase? My readers will have to search the section for the Fruit Bliss brand, but that’s the only way I see to allow them a choice of package size, flavor, etc.
    Please advise. Thanks!

  • Hi there,

Sometimes, I link to product pages rather than the actual product […] Will I still get credit for the purchase?

That is not something we would be able to clarify for you, but something you will want to confirm with Amazon instead. My understanding is that for you to get credit, the initial link you provide must have your affiliate info in the link. That is what the large amount of random letters/numbers in this example represents:

If the link you add to your WordPress.com site does not have Amazon’s specific affiliate link data in it, then they would not really have a way to know that the visit is coming from your site. I would double-check with Amazon affiliate support however, just to be safe, as well as to see if they offer a different method for creating that kind of link which will also ensure you get credit.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
