Amazon affiliate widget showing as link

  I’ve recently become an amazon affiliate and have been trying to add their widget to my blog.

  I followed all the instructions which simply said all I needed to do was paste the html into any post and it would show up as a widget. I copied the html from Amazon and pasted it into the html tab of the page I wanted it to show up on.
  Whenever I post the html all that shows on my blog is a link to a list of the products that should show up as a widget.

  I have tried to paste the code into a new post, a page and into the sidebar menu of my blog through the widgets menu, all with the same result. I have also tried to post one specific product (text and photo) rather than a widget and again it just shows up as a link that opens a new tab showing the item that should be straight there on my blog.
  I have also tried disabling adblock etc.

  Any help would be much appreciated, it looks so simple on all the tutorials I must be doing something wrong!
