Amazon aStore Help

I was confused on something and I was hoping for clarification. I tried to add an Amazon aStore to my blog, but was not able to. When I looked up how to do it, I found another forum that said:

“If you are trying to set up an Amazon Store that’s a no go on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. We cannot post any iframes on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. The software will strip the code out to preserve security as this is a multiuser blogging platform.”

But then I read on and found the exceptions to the policy which said this:

“Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (“Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category.”

My blog is a movie review blog, so then isn’t my blog an exception, as it says above? If my blog is allowed to add an Amazon aStore, how do I do it? And if not, can you explain why not?

    Thank you.

    Read this please http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/

WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert their text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.

Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any affiliate links in widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.

So, if I am understanding what you said and am reading the article correctly, I can put the link to the store, is that correct? And if I can put the link, am I allowed to put a picture or screenshot of the store as a preview? Thanks for your help.

I tagged this thread for a Staff response. That way they are fully aware of the kind of questions that are being asked even after the support documentation is read. Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond.

From what I read I can link to the store, all I want to know is if I can put a picture of the store so viewers can know what to expect.

Wait for staff to respond. I am relatively sure that linking to an Amazon store will be out; it would be construed as an ad. You can link in the body of your post to individual items in Amazon, using an affiliate link. That’s cool. But anything like an ad or trying to drive traffic to an affiliate store per se is not likely to pass muster. Then again, that’s just an opinion. Staff will say yes or no definitively.

You are welcome to put affiliate links in your blog, but the Amazon code will not work on WordPress.com. If you wish, you can link to an image of a book or similar item, and can link to your store but you cannot place actual advertisements on your site. I’m not really sure what image you would use to link to your store, but if it doesn’t look like an advertisement, that would be fine.
