  Hi, I’m hoping to add Amazon affiliate links to my blog, aelarsen.wordpress.com. In specific, I want to add Image and Text links. When I insert the product code into the html page for the post, what shows up on the regular page is a blank grey box.

  This forum post (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embed-amazon-link-in-wpcom-post?replies=6) seems to be saying that’s not possible. Am I reading it correctly that Image and text links cannot be inserted at all? Or am I missing something?

  You will have to use plain text links only.

  1. WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.

  2. Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any banners, affiliate links in sidebar or footer widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.

  Can you post an image of the item, such as a book cover, as an illustration only (no link) and use the text-only link?
