Amazon link for books

I think its a wonderful feature when people have a recommended reading list with reviews on their sidebar that links directly with Amazon. When I tried to do this as an extra feature for my blog I found out that WordPress.com prohibits it. My blog is not about reviewing books, but is about sharing my point of view on nature subjects and a recommended reading list would be great. Is there any consideration for future support of Amazon by WordPress?

I would suggest contacting staff on this. If your links to the books are not affiliate links where you make money, and you are just doing it so others can check out the book, and for the purposes of furthering a discussion, then I don’t think there would be an issue, but I’m not staff, so do contact them on this.

You are allowed to do substantive reviews, etc, and use affiliate links in the text of the post, provided the point of the post is not to sell books. Sidebar links are virtually useless BTW, because thanks to advertising in sidebars, virtually nobody ever clicks on them anyway.

I’d rather not do a post on a book, but have a sidebar referral list that sits there with my comments. That way its always visible, and not in the post history somewhere. Guess I’m out of luck here.
