Amazon links in comments always require moderation
-
Any comment that includes an Amazon link always gets stuck in moderation. Is there a change in settings I can make to allow these links to go through automatically?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
You can increase the number of links allowed in the post by following the instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-moderationYou can also tweak your comment moderation settings:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/Hope that helps!

Thank you, but I should have mentioned that I already allow 2 links without moderation. Other links go through fine; it’s just the Amazon links that are held for moderation. It’s a puzzle to me.
-
That’s because affiliate links in comments are characteristic of spammers and are probably automatically held by the system as likely spam.
-
Actually the Amazon comments have at least 3 links. One for the image, one for the text link and one for the button.
So try setting your links allowed to 3 or 4 (there might be some extra links there I didn’t see but I counted at least 3 links).

Wait. Amazon affiliate linked images are not allowed here, as they are classified as Advertising. Staff have been very clear about that.
-
Why turn your site into a spammer paradise and get your site suspended for having ads in the comments?
-
Oh, I didn’t realize that Amazon images are not allowed. So if a commenter links to an Amazon item, is there any way to let the link go through without showing the image?
It seems I used to be able to do this.

You can probably edit the comment once it’s been posted to remove the image.
Here is the policy for affiliate links:

Yes, I removed the image. Thanks!
Looks like I might be able to allow image ads if I go with an advertising option like WordAds.

I’ll need to investigate further.

You do not control WordAds. Click on my name to see my site and what WordAds look like. You split revenue 50/50 with Wp.com so the split is better than affiliate advertising, but there’s no such thing as controlling what ads go on your site. I doubt my audience is interested in Celebrity Plastic Surgery Secrets, but that’s the ads I get.

raincoaster, I may be missing something but I did not see ads on your site. I wonder if my browser is blocking them … and I might be able to use some celebrity plastic surgery secrets. :)
