Amazon product images stopped displaying

  My blog is mostly book reviews, and I use product links from the Amazon Associates (Affiliate) program to show book covers.

  This has worked fine for the past year, but in the last 4-5 days, the product images have stopped displaying, although the little “missing image” picture is still clickable and takes the user to the product page at Amazon.

  Here is an example of one of my posts:

  Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I contacted Amazon support, and received a generic faq-style email that didn’t relate to my problem…

  See the links you’ve used? Links like https://i0.wp.com/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B000FC1QN8&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=planedefencom-20

  That’s banned code.

  The ONLY affiliate links you can use here are the plain HTML text links. Not even affiliate image links. And definitely, absolutely not ad links.

  The only solution is to edit the posts and put in a regular image, either hotlinked or uploaded to your blog.

  I was pretty sure I’d read some pages on WordPress.com stating that Amazon affiliate links were allowed. It’s possible that I made a mistake about that, I’ll seek clarification.

  I have seen at least one other WordPress.com using the same type of links which are still active, and my links worked for an entire year, so I suspect this isn’t the problem, but it’s definitely something I should check, thank you.

  Amazon TEXT affiliate links are allowed. Ad code is not allowed. Affiliate image links are not allowed.

  I’ve been reading some pages which seem to indicate you are correct.

  A very curious policy distinction. Also strange that the links worked for an entire year, then suddenly broke.

  Well, a year ago affiliate links were banned except in rare circumstances anyway. They’ve only opened it up a few months ago.

  i also want to add amazon affilate links to my blog. but while adding in text editor, the preview shows nothing except the text of the link which too is not clickable
