Amazon referral program

    I’m helping my friend with his WordPress blog, getting a program set up through Amazon where he can earn referral fees. The program works through widgets that Amazon creates and through hyperlinking, among other things. The problem is, the widgets supposedly only work on WordPress.org not WordPress.com sites. And, the hyperlinking program only works if you can edit your theme’s code (which my friend can’t do because he’s using a built-in free theme). Have you ever run across this problem? Any suggestions for problem solving?

    There are no restrictions on e-commerce, affiliate marketing, and/or sponsored posting if you set up a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, but there are some added responsibilities. You can find out more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here.
