Amount of posts on home page

I need to know how to get less posts on my main page on my website. I don’t want every post on my main page.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. Your home page by default displays the blog’s main feed, i.e. all your posts in reverse chronological order. Most themes have infinite scroll enabled on the home page which means new posts load automatically once you reach the bottom. However, you can control how many posts load at a time under Settings ->Reading on the dashboard. Look for the option “Blog pages show at most”: http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/reading-settings/
If you prefer, you can also set a static page as your home page. Instructions to do that here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

This helped and I got some of what I wanted fixed but I changed it to summary instead of full text and yet it is still showing the entirety of every post with the exception of the first post (which I reblogged from another site).

That summary/full post setting only applies to your RSS feed, i.e. what people will see in the Reader and in email notifications.
To have only part of the post show up on your home page you’ll need to add the read more-tag into every post. For existing posts, edit the post, insert the more-tag at the point you want the post to cut off, and update the post. Make sure you add the tag on it’s own line every time and that no formatting like underline or bold is selected when you insert the tag.
