This is probably answered somewhere besides where I know. (Hope someone has time to answer again.)
Is there a limit to a) the number of postings one can make in a single blog and b) about how much is the space limit on a single posting (in layman’s terms)? .
In regard to the second, I once saw a single posting that went on for what might have been printed up on eight or ten pages of paper. The visual wisdom of that aside, according to that, one might just have an entire chapter of a book in one posting or maybe something like a month’s entries.
In regard to the first, some years ago there was an extremely informative blog on communism online. One day there was an announcement that there had been 2,000 entries and the blog was being taken down. Why it was taken down was never explained, but the vague implication was that it had exceeded a prescribed number of postings permitted. It seems like if the man was quitting the project, he could have just left it at that point. It was well done, and there was no suggestion that there had been intimidation.
There’s no point in getting too involved if there is considerable space limit.
In a similar vein, is there some kind of time limit? I recently was unable to get online, except for an hour here or there for nearly eight months. So, if a blog sits for maybe a year for some reason, will it still be there when the author gets back to it?
Thanks to whoever.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The number of posts we can make is unlimited, and there are no bandwidth limitations.
If we have a very long posts we can use pagination (next page) to split content.

There are no space limits for posts. Each wordpress.com blog also has bee allotted 3000 megabytes (~3 GBs) of space for storing uploaded files and images. http://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/

I’m not aware of any time limits and I do not know why you were having such problems with connecting. Did you get Staff assistance with that problem? Is it an ongoing problem?

Yes, I do believe that blog will still be there, unless the Admin of the blog chooses to delete it. If you have any further questions perhaps you ought to direct them to Staff.

Thank you, timethief! Put my spirit at ease, there.
Regarding point:

_____________My primary computer along with other belongings is stashed in storage in another town. I had to use library services when I could get there, and libraries have time limits — like an hour in any given day to check your email.
It may indeed be an ongoing problem for some people depending in their circumstances, just maybe not for eight months.

There is no time limit, we have people returning to blogs from 2006.
And there really is no space limit for text. What you type is not counted into any available space – that is used for uploads/images etc. So if you wanted to post 20k words a day for a year the amount of space you would have left is the same as someone just starting.
Super long pages are hard to read. Either paginate as TT suggests or just post in smaller chunks. You could schedule the posts too so they appear regularly for your readers. That way you could write masses for a day or two then leave a few days while they post.

This is what Mark said above:
