Quick question – I’m new to WordPress. If I edit a blog post that has already been published, will followers get an email or any notification?
-
No, they won’t if it has not been enabled from your admin.
To enable this feature, go to your admin, scroll down to Settings, click on “Email post changes, and then click the checkbox beside “Send an email when a post or page changes.”
Then click the save changes button below. Hope that helps Amy

Thanks, gokpo! Just to clarify, when I go to the email post changes settings in the admin section, it shows a list of editors and admins, not followers. I want to make sure that followers won’t get an email if we go back and make any updates to past blog posts.

You’re welcome.
Provided it’s not enabled by ticking the checkbox, they won’t receive the emails when you make updates.

Hi there,
Followers do not get any notification at all from changes to an already-published post. Even if you completely unpublish the post, and then republish it, your followers won’t receive emails, as those are only triggered the first time a post is published.
The Email Post Changes feature @gokpo refers to is something completely different. That feature notifies admins on a site if a post or page is modified by another admin, editor or author. That feature has nothing to do with what followers on your site receives.
