    Hey everyone,

We apologize for the inconvenience, but our team is working on fixing the issue you all are encountering. In the meantime, please completely log out of WordPress.com, clear your cache and cookies, and attempt to log back in. Or try using a different browser than the one that produced the error.

We have had some success with the above method, but let me know if you are still seeing the error.

    Thank you!

Any update on this issue? I have tried all of the above and still am getting the same error message.

Hi @kmitch224, are you still having trouble? There were some changes that seemed to have resolved this. You may still need to log out, clear cache and cookies, then log back in again. Can you try that and let me know whether it works for you now?

I am trying to open a new account. Same problem: I need an active access token.

@kmitch224, @fredcasden, my best guess at this point is that you’re seeing this error somewhere else — basically while the error is the same, it’s not the same cause as the original thread.

So we’ll need more information :)

Can you paste the full error you’re receiving, and tell me how you’re getting to it? I’ve tried logging in as you and can’t reproduce it yet.

The only thing I can think of is it may have just been the IE and Crome version I was using. I still get the same error when trying to set up a site while on my computer but I have been able to create one using my phone so I’m okay now!

    Thanks!

I’d still love to solve it so you don’t have to use your phone :)

If you’re willing to help me duplicate it, at what point in site setup were you getting the error?

Okay! So after I created an account I went to add a post by clicking the icon in the upper right corner. Once there it would say I didn’t have a site so I could create one. I would pick a theme, url, and plan and then after I would submit it the site would take me back to the url page and give me that error. I tried selecting different themes, plans, even paying for a url but the same error happened each time.

    Hope that helps!

The good news is that when I tried to open a new account today, I had no problem. The big, bad “need an active access token” message did not appear and I was able to open an account and begin setting up a place to add future posts — after I do a lot more customizing! Whatever the problem was seems to have been fixed or vanished on its own.

Thanks for the update and more info. I hadn’t gone so far into the site creation process, so that may be why I couldn’t duplicate it (I’d expected it earlier.)

The issue that had initially caused this thread has been solved and closed out, and if we’re seeing more of it, it’s a different cause. So I’ll close this thread out. If anyone sees this again, please:

    – start a new thread with the full error in the title
    – let us know what URL you were on (copy the address from the top and paste it)
    – let us know what steps you took to see this error
    – if possible, try another browser to see whether you get the same thing
    and
    – add a modlook tag so we won’t miss it.

Alternatively, you can try getting in touch with us here:

    Thanks!
