"An active access token must be used create a new Site for the User"
-
I have created a WordPress.com account but I am unable to get much further. Each time I go through the steps to create a blog, when I get to step 4 of 5 and select the hostname (eg. myblog.wordpress.com), I get this error message:
“An active access token must be used create a new Site for the User”
That’s a cut-and-paste – the incorrect grammar and weird case usage are actually in the error message, not my mistakes!
What’s worse, on my second attempt, the previously selected hostname is no longer available, so I have to try it with a new name (e.g. myblog2.wordpress.com). It appears the process fails after reserving the name, making it unavailable. If there’s a way to free up the names I’ve tried so far, that would be nice.
I’m using Tor Browser 6.0.3
I’ve tried all the usual stuff like clearing cache, cookies, logging out and in again, etc. Seems to be an error on the server site to me.
Any suggestions?

I’ve posted to the TOR subreddit about this issue as well. I can tell from googling that it’s a common wordpress problem for TOR browser users but I haven’t had any luck finding a solution yet.

Found the problem. WordPress.com uses third party cookies, one of the security/privacy problems the Tor browser protects against by default. WordPress refuses to function if you reject third party tracking cookies.

Still don’t get it. I turned off security for cookies completely and it still would not set up the new website. Anyone still working on this issue? I’m not using “Tor” browser that I know of, just regular web browser.
