An email contact would be nice
-
It is obvious that there is a problem with linking within a post. I haven’t been able to correct this and yes I have checked for the most recent updates to flash, IE, etc, etc. I do not want to change browers at this point in time. So, please no snarky or rude comments that it is all my fault about what browser I chose to use.
I cannot contact support since that screen requires a search and the page does nothing and does not get me to a point where I can directly contact support via email.
You need to modify your contact support screen to give us such an address or take down the claim that 24/7 support is available. It is not.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

search for anything then when the search comes back page down to the contact form that opens up – worked fine for me a couple of hours ago.

I have tried that many times – it does not search – the page just sits there. No contact form opens up.
I have noticed that others have mentioned this problem, so it is not just me.
Since this post is in the “ideas” section, I am just suggesting that an actual email address should be provided without having to do the search thing. Or even just have the contact form available without having to perform a search.
I do realize that WP is trying to force us to search for the problem, but when many of the suggestions include “contact WP with specifics” then that contact info should be readily available.

If this contact link does not work for you http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ then you can email staff support@wordpress.com. However, do note that they are well ware of the problem and are already working on correcting it. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/can039t-add-links

Thanks for the links to contact staff.
I would like to see those contacts actaully listed on the WP website. I have gone back to the contact support page and some improvement has been made. I can actually type in a word and get back some references. Previously, my computer would freeze up.
However, there is no ability to say “no” and get to a form to specifically ask a new question directly to the staff. It might be working for some, it is not working for me. So, there is still a problem.
Since I am posting this under the “IDEAS” seaction, here is another one.
WP has modified the support section and it looks very nice. However, it would be good if there was a section of identified problems and workarounds as well as daily updates by staff. Therefore, there would be one place I can go back to see the newest info on the problem and not a series of forum links to go through.
BTW, I have gotten the problem partially resolved through trial and error. I am used to using the entry form for “visual” and using the link button to add the link. Some suggested using the HTML side, but for me the links button also failed. I finally went back to some older posts with successful links and wrote down the HTML formatting code. I was then able to write my own to get the link to work. Still need to find out how to get the link to open in a new page, but I’ll research that later. An “old dog” can learn “new tricks”.
That said, it is still a workaround for me and I would sure like to have that little icon on the visual apge to be working again.

Staff are now away until Tuesday, so the above instructions to contact them through the contact form will not work. Nonetheless you can use the contact email that tt has provided you.

@spinningstar
This is just to let your know that others have switched to Firefox or Chrome and been able to insert links. You can download or upgrade any browser here.
