Analytics for ‘European Union’

Hi guys! Just stopping in because I was doing some research on my analytics. It’s confusing that I have a certain amount of blog views from what you call European Union’, however, countries that are part of the European Union like Germany, France, The U.K. etc. also have their own individual stat views.

    Hi there,

I feel like this old response by a staff member, @kokkieh, in this thread may be relevant to you: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/stats-glitch-4/#post-2987377

If stats are showing up for the EU instead of the UK, it’s because that’s the information we’re getting for the IP addresses of people viewing your site. If we’re able to detect the exact country a viewer is coming from we show that, but sometimes we’re only able to detect the region rather than an exact country. This isn’t a glitch, but an inherent limitation in tracking someone’s location online via their IP address.

Since it’s a fairly old thread, I’ll also tag staff to see if they can offer any further details about this. :)

  • This is still an accurate answer. Thanks for digging up that previous reply, torres126.

rlrooks – Do you have any questions about that reply? Basically, we are providing you with the most detailed information that we can in the analytics. If we can’t locate an exact country, we can tell you the bigger geographical area, such as the EU.
