Anchor points on another page
-
Hi. I want to link to this page from another post but I want the page to open where it says Chapter 7.36.
https://pruettlegacy.wordpress.com/special-features/directors-commentary/I’m using this example from the support page: Click me
I think I’m having trouble because my heading as a period in it and the period would typically be dropped in html. How do I write this? I’ve tried Chapter 7.36, Chapter-7-3-6, Chapter-7-36 and Chapter-7.36. It brings me to that page, but not that heading.
It’s not going to matter right now because the page isn’t that long, but soon it will end up being very long as I will keep adding content from the top pushing everything down.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry. Here’s the example:
a href=”http://myblog.wordpress.com/example/#text-of-your-heading”>Click me -

The code was inadvertently converted to a link, which unfortunately doesn’t link to the anchor. The code I used is
(start tag)a href=”https://pruettlegacy.wordpress.com/special-features/directors-commentary/#chapter-7-36″>Chapter 7.6</a(end tag)
where start tag = <, and end tag = >.

Have you added an anchor point at the heading Chapter 7.36 on the page https://pruettlegacy.wordpress.com/special-features/directors-commentary/?

What musicdoc1 said plus you need to have a page section that has an id of chapter-736 so you can jump to it using the html musicdoc1 has given you.
Please check Page Jumps support document.
Specifically this part and the html example below it in the support document.
Alternatively, instead of putting the ID attribute on an empty tag, you can add the ID to the first element on the page – such as a heading – like this:
