Anchor tags in URL

When I want to send users to a specific anchor tag on the home page of my site via a link in a marketing email I have this link:

    https://mysite/#anchortag

Pretty simple so far. But neither Firefox or Chrome are able to send the user to the correct part of the home page where this anchor tag is. If I refresh the browser window though, it suddenly works. Which is pretty useless. Has anyone elso come across this? It should be a simple enough ask that it works first time. All anchor tags work fine from the site menu. Will I have to resort to jQuery to force browsers to go to this anchor tag, if this anchor tag appends the site url?

    Any help gratefully recieved! Thanks..

  • I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.

What is the URL of the site with the problem?

I’m asking for a Wordress.com site I built last year in Wordress using Dani theme:
    daynwilliams.com
    Hosted by Bluehost

It’s a single page site with 8 sections and 8 anchor tags. Site menu works fine but neither Firefox and Chrome can go to the right anchor tag (#showcase) using this url:

    Home

I’d like to send users to this section via a marketing email I’m planning to send out.

That means your site is hosted with Bluehost, not WordPress.com. The “.com” in your domain name is what your top-level domain is, not that your site is hosted with us. But I’ll get you pointed in the right direction.

Since your site is not hosted with us, you should reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

You could also reach out to the company who you purchased that theme from and they may have some guidance as well on how to properly set an anchor link in their theme.

    Hope that helps.
