Andreas 04/manage/browse categories

    I have a LOT of categories, and when I’m looking for old info and go into “MANAGE” and then attempt to browse categories, it’s very difficult to do because the categories aren’t listed alphabetically.

    Is there a way I can sort them so that they will be? Right now they don’t even seem to be in chronological order as to when I created them. They’re just mixed up.

    Thanks.

    The categories listed in your sidebar are alphabetically listed. I’m surprised to hear that they are not likewise alphabetically listed in your dashboard categories section because mine are. It’s only when we choose to create sub-categories that alphabetical order will be superceded by our sub category choices. There are no short cut methods available to category organization that I know of. Any re-organization of categories will be something you will have to undertake manually.

    Hm. I’ll have to look at that again. I don’t think I created sub-categories. If I had done that, HOW would I have done that?

    By assigning a “parent” category.
    Add Category
    Category name:
    Category parent:
    Description: (optional)
    Here’s an example – suppose you started with three large categories Vegetables, Fruits and Herbs. Then suppose as time went by you created sub categories like this Apples, Beans, Basil. The parent category for Apples would be Fruits; the parent category for Basil would be Herbs; and the parent Beans would be Vegetables.
    This would be the sidebar display:
    Fruits
    * Apples
    * Bananas
    Herbs
    * Basil
    * Rosemary
    Vegetables
    * Beans

    Oh! Okay, I haven’t done that.

    Thanks for the explanation.

    Maybe someone else with andreas 04 will check to see if they have the same issue, or it’s just me!
