Android app trying to connect to wrong account

New to wordpress; blog works fine on laptop. However, trying to install android app on tablet via play store – app asks me to complete setup on a secondary google account (this account is only used to monitor an email address that I previously used and doesn’t have any play store payments associated). I can’t find any way to point the installation to my primary account. Any ideas / advice would be most welcome.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, if you are connecting to a site hosted here on WPcom, you should be logging in with your WPcom credentials.

You can find the FAQ for the Android app here: https://apps.wordpress.com/support/

For issues specific to the Android app, there is a separate forum which uses a WP.org login. If you don’t have one, you can register one on that page.

Thanks for the response – however, it’s not a logon issue as I can’t instal the app, even. On Play store, when I click install, a popup appears saying that I have to set up payments on my secondary email account whilst these are set up already on the primary which I want to use – it’s the id on my WordPress account. (I have a .com account).

In order to download the app from the Play store, you don’t need to be logged in with the same email account associated with your WordPressdotcom account. You can download the app from whichever gmail account you wish and then after installing, you should be able to log in with your WordPressdotcom account.

Just to be certain, I just downloaded the app from the Play store on my Android phone (S4) using a different email account not associated with my WordPressdotcom account and have not yet encountered any screen asking to set up payments.

Please take a screenshot of what you are seeing and upload it to your site’s Media Library through a web browser. Don’t link it here as there may be sensitive information on that screenshot. Then come back to this forum thread and add the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section in the thread’s sidebar to alert Staff to this thread.

I’ll continue to follow this thread.

Thanks – now sorted. Looks like it was something weird with Google Play and accounts.
A bit bizarre – Restarted tablet, no change. Then I removed the Google Play app and reinstalled it, restarted tablet, worked no problem. This on Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, Android 7.0. No problem on Nexus 5 phone, Android 6.0.1.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks.
    Alan
