Animated gif won't loop
-
Hi!
Quick question: I was able to successfully insert an animated gif into a recent post, but the gif won’t loop. Is there something I should be doing to ensure that it loops?
The post is this one: http://mommytrainingwheels.com/2013/08/23/friday-photo-recap-august-23rd-edition/
Thank you!

Animated gifs will not operate unless you presize them to the exact size required prior to uploading them into a post or page. If you do not do that and the cropper comes into play they will not work.

Click the title of the post please and note the gif animates when the post is displayed on it’s own page http://mommytrainingwheels.com/2013/08/23/friday-photo-recap-august-23rd-edition/31pdm/#main

I inserted the gif in its original size, hence why it actually does play.
I’ve looked at it in my edit post mode, in preview, in my home page, by clicking on the title of the post to see the post in its page and by clicking on the animated gif in my post and the same thing always happens: it plays once and does not loop to play again.
I tried using another browser (I use Firefox, but tried on Safari) and the same thing happens, the gif does not loop.

It loops for me when the post is viewed on both on the front page and on its own page.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(b) And what any error reports you receive state. -
Thank you for your thorough reply!
Unfortunately, after following through all of the steps, it still isn’t looping for me :(
I am using Firefox 23.0.1 and did not receive any error reports.
I’m happy it is working for others though.

Animated gifs can be set to go through their animation and then stop. There’s a setting that you have to enable to make it loop. You might want to try to generate the gif image again using the correct settings.
