Animation on homepage

Hi,
I want to put an animation on my homepage which will appears once and disappears after 5 sec.
Can I do it without any module, widget or plugin? If not which one is the more simple (I found jellybox but I’m not sure it can do it and that worpress.com can host it)?Thanks

A specific animation like that (for which you probably need some Javascript) is not possible on a WordPress.com site, since you won’t be able to run scripts just like that.
WordPress.com sites don’t give you access to the HTML source, or add plugins of any kind, so you won’t be able to add Jellybox I’m afraid.

An animated GIF would be allowed on a post, page, or text widget.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/Note that the gif must be uploaded the exact size you want it to appear. If you try to resize it after you insert it, then it won’t work.
