Annoying Verification Request

  On some WordPress blogs I have the following nuisance:

  When I make a comment on a post, I check “notify me of further comments”.
  THEN, I get an e-mail asking me to verify that I indeed DO want to be notified. How silly.
  Then I must go to a page and click OK.
  Not all WordPress Sites do this.
  Anyone know if this is the fault of the site? Or what the cause is?

  If you look at the dozen or so threads on the issue today you’ll see that staff are tinkering with the comments. Yesterday everyone got two emails for every comment. Today they’re trying something different. They usually do this sort of tinkering on the weekends as traffic is lower. Hopefully they’ll figure it out by Monday.

  Some of those sites you are not experiencing the issue on may also be self-hosted, and they are outside the reach of the mad coders in the basement at AutoMATTic.

  Thanx folks
